I picked up a vintage Gillette safety razor at an antique shop a couple years ago and after making the switch I'm never looking back. The razor itself is 3x my age and works perfectly and 100 count of blades is less than $20

I just ran out of my cartridges. The cartridges were like $25 for 16 for replacements. After watching some of these videos, I ordered a safety razor and 150 bladers for $15. I always hated the cartridges because I'm cheap and I'd force myself to use them 6-10 times, even if they were as sharp as a butterknife. Looking forward to trying the safety razors!

A safety razor was the best thing I could have invested in. I always used the Phillips One Blade for my beard and a Braun razor for my hair. I got a cheap safety razor for around 5€ just for testing. I love it. I have the cleanest beard shaving session with it and it is so nice to shave your head as well. For everyone who is also interested, just buy one. You won't regret it. It takes time to get used to it but I will not ever get back to other shaving gear.

Completely true bro. I havent bought blades in like 1 year and i still have a 100 pack of gillette platinums, 100 pack perma sharp⁰, 50+ Kais, 40 feathers and a few other loose blades. Now I might buy different blades for pleasure not need

I think one of the biggest roadblocks to DE shaving for beginners is the lack of training and proper usage of DE razors… I use DE razors now, but once tried them in the past and ended up going back to cartridge razors because I didn’t know how to use DE razors correctly. About 10 years ago, I bought a Merkur 34C safety razor and tried to shave with it like I did with my Gillette fusion. With the Gillette fusion I was only doing one pass and getting a pretty decent shave but I couldn’t shave daily with the cartridge razor because it would give me irritation so I could only shave every other day or every three days at that time. When I first tried the double edged safety razor, I only did one pass with it and didn’t know that it required re lathering and at least two passes and some touchup to get a really smooth shave, so I was very frustrated with the double edged razor and actually threw it away! Later on, I watched some YouTube videos and learned how to properly shave and now I don’t buy cartridge razors anymore and I’m saving lots of money with a shave😊 that is incredible in comparison to the cartridge razors. I get zero irritation, zero nicks and cuts, and it’s a shave beyond my imagination, compared to what I was getting with those awful cartridge razors, and I will never go back to them again. I can also shave daily with the DE razors and there is no irritation from them.
My advice to someone considering going to a double edge safety razor is to watch several videos on how to do it correctly before you even start.

It takes weeks or 50-70 shaves in order to learn how to shave with these after shaving with stupid expensive cartridges for years, which in turn caused bad habits you have to unlearn completely.

Just started shaving a week ago. My first shave was with a gillette p2 twin blade razor. Wasnt exactly satisfied with shave and had plenty of razor burn after. Decided to shift to DE (safety) razors and bought a gillette sterling. Honestly never had a better, irritation free shave. U might knick urself a few times while learning but those knicks really dont hurt

I just bought one and safety razor is better for me it doesn't sting or give me itch after shaveing unlike those cartridge which sometimes i get cut and mostly itch. I'm glad I switched to safety razor.

On the gillette ad it says u can get 18 shaves 🤮 imagine the colony on that because u not getting all that hair out and after a few weeks it's perfect for nasty to make a home in it. I use a shaveet so much better no irration and after about 2-3 shaves throw the blade now I have a fresh blade.
