Comparison Cold Steel Viking hand axe and battle axe

here's a short vid showing both the Cold Steel Viking Hand Axe and Viking Battle Axe together, side by side. Both are fun purchases, just for my collection.

I prefer the hand axe. Its just way more practical imo

Hand saw a slot in the handle head and install a wooden wedge. My hand axe head now stays tight. I also flux core welded up the stupid screw hole. It now looks more authentic.

Soak the head ends in antifreeze. I have done that to my throwing tomahawks and hammers and it lasts for years.

My cold steel bearded axe came razor sharp but I guess they are luck of the draw as they come sharp or not ! I know they are not historically correct but I really enjoy my bearded axe ! Thanks for posting the video !

Well this is a bit long in the tooth, but going to ask regardless. The site says the weight is very different, but looking at the metal it doesn't look like it. How's it comparing total weight of both axes?

Actually, the Handles ARE Identical! ....ALSO, you are putting the sheath onto the Viking Hand Axe BACKWARDS! If you switch ends, you'll find it is a lot easier to mount/remove.

*Talking about how you had the sheath on it at the start of the video, later on when you put the sheath back on = you did it correctly.

hand axe is 1/3ed the cost of the battle axe, love them both, but for the price ill go hand axe

In my county the Husqvarna forest Axe is ⅔ of the price of the viking axe, similar in size and weight, waaaay better quality just doesnt look Ragnar'ish

I have both as well (plus the Viking Axe, the bigger one). Question: where did you find the sheat for the Viking Battle Axe? Mine had that cheap white plastic :-)

Chamfer the inside of the head a little and it will fit your handle better and it's kinder to the timber. ✌

You should try the Condor viking axes, much better tools.
