Identity shifting means embracing change and growth as a natural part of life. Allow yourself to let go of old beliefs and patterns that no longer serve you, and focus on building new habits that align with your current goals and values. Remember, your identity is not set in stone and can evolve over time. By embracing change and shifting your identity, you'll open yourself up to new opportunities and experiences that can bring greater happiness and fulfillment to your life.

Shifting is easy because it’s a state of being and changing is harder because it’s effort! This is what I needed thanks!

Amazing as usual, I am reading James Clear's Atomic Habits. It also talks about Identity shift. My example will be instead of telling myself I will be a discipled person, I choose to think and identify myself as discipled person.

I just want to make it be known how underrated this video truly is and thank you for sharing this information with the world, this only works for the people who actually put it into practice but just a very great video overall, extremely helpful.👏🏾

I am a clinical Ericksonian hypnotherapist, as well as an NLP Practitioner and trainer. I got my start in personal changework over 21 years ago by facilitating seminars for Alan Brown who, at the time, was Tony Robbins' top trainer in the U.S. First off, this is great content--and is reflective of Dilts' Logical Levels model, which I use extensively. With that said, I believe the fundamental challenge most people face lies in an internal struggle between various parts or 'ego states' that make up facets of their total identity. For example, there may be a conscious part of a person that wants them to be wealthy, while another unconscious part views wealth as highly dangerous or threatening in some way. What I have discovered--and this is very, very important--is that a person's outer reality is going to invariably be a reflection of the inner world of their most dominant part. In other words, if a person lives in poverty, it is because a dominant part of them lives in a world where poverty is the norm. Now, the typical approach, until now, to resolving conflicts between two or more conflicting parts is to, first, make their roles and motivations explicit, then to mediate some sort of agreement or compromise between them. This seems to be a logical approach--until one understands that each part of us, even those 'problematic' parts, is operating according to perfect logic, given the context of how each part views the world. In other words, if you viewed the world from the perspective of that part, you would do the same thing--even if, from a logical or "healthy" viewpoint, it seems crazy. Therefore, this tells us that our goal should not be to mediate agreement between our parts, but to change their internal perceptions of their respective worlds so they are in alignment with our goals of self-actualization.

How would that look? Well, let's say you, consciously, want to be wealthy, but, when you search your feelings, you sense there is a part of you that is really afraid of what wealth means. What I suggest is that, rather than denying or trying to suppress that part, you open your awareness to why that part has that orientation. Maybe, the part understands that the commitment involved in achieving wealth will involve a sacrifice of time and energy that you don't currently possess or can afford. With that understanding, one might work to challenge the part's limited model of reality so you can show it all the ways you can afford that expenditure of time and effort.

everything you talk about has been beneficial to my life.
on a real level. i am the only one out of my siblings that saves money and able to pay for fun things.
I was not like this prior. my money mostly went to bills. i deprived myself of buying things i want.
so now, I'm still learning and am grateful for your financial/journaling advice that helped through Covid19 craziness.
Thank you
Fidel

I honestly was watching this and was like, I want to learn how to have an identity shift, and thinking, but HOW! When you gave me the questions I finally realized that this shift can become a reality. Thank you Clark, you are the man!

What a smack in the face that i needed. My parents divorced when I was a year old. My dad lived a nice wealthy life and my mom drank and was on welfare. (Both were loving parents) I've personally used that as my identity my entire life. I would sabotage chances to become more successful than my dad without even knowing it. If offered two jobs I would take the one that kept me just above my mom but bot above my dad. I would tell the story of being the best of the worst and the worst of the best. I am 43 years old and i never knew why i would do this but knew i was doing something stupid when I could look back on it. Thank you, its time to tell a different story.

Just did this journaling prompt and it's got me fired up in the best possible way. Thank you for igniting a spark! I'm going to strive for seven days of acting without being afraid. The only regret I could ever see myself having in life would be not giving it my all and striving for the passionate things in my heart. I can't thank you enough for what this video brought out of me on paper and internally.

Shifting your identity can be incredible powerful! I saw many clients completely transforming their lives just from shifting their identity.
And I actually did it myself too, but back then I didn't realize that I did.
