Something I picked up with my interactions from other Warriors we use across the Armed Forces is a saying I heard in Kosovo, "If you wish for peace, prepare for war".
You must be strong and formidable to prepare for war. It does not mean that you ever should be cruel. It does mean you should know how to defend yourself and your family; mentally, physically and spiritually.

Jordan just confirmed what we have seen for many years in Asian culture in learning the disciplines of fighting, judo, karate, king fu etc. these people are strong and deadly yet very humble and loving . Each knows what not to push and only use their strengths when is extremely necessary.

In a confrontation, if you can make peace, do so.
If the opponent is aggressive, defend yourself, with a punch or blow that incapacitates him.
If it escalates, use force that is greater. Up to and including a firearm.
