You saved me a headache in installing vCenter 8. I have tried and looked for a solution for days.

Thanks for the tip, struggled with this issue for days. I can successfully install using this method when using bridge networking. If I use Host Only, it continues to fail. In my VMWare Workstation, my VMNet1 is a Host Only management network. It consists of AD, DNS, DHCP and RAS/NAT. DNS is configured correctly with reverse lookup and VCSA appliance has both an A and PTR record. Reverse lookup works correctly. Would there be a limiting factor preventing the installation to a Host Only network? Although I can install to bridge network and then disable bridge network then enable host only network, the majority of services won't start. I also tried installing to Host network to ESXi server. Same issue. Frustrating!

What is the process to install the appliance using the OVF file? At around 14:00 @Gnan Cloud Garage mentions the previous session but I'm not sure which video that is. Any instruction or links would be appreciated :)

Hi, After I convert OVA to OVF, what is the next step? Do I need to replace this newly converted OVF in the vCenter appliance installer and then initiate the installation again? You did not cover this in vCenter installation video.

Unfortunately that doesn't work for me. He still wants to have an ova file during the installation.

Solution:

Convert the VCSA OVA to an OVF using OVFTool.
Delete the Original VCSA OVF manifest(mf) file So that validation will not fail due to our changes.
Edit the VCSA OVF file and locate the following section and change the value to "true" and then save.
<Property ovf:type="string" ovf:userConfigurable="true"
Retry the VCSA 8.0 installation using vcsa*.ovf file and it will work without any issues.

Thank you

Very disappointing ... this method didn't work for me. I've tried multiple times -- same error at 68% on stage 2. The only option that worked for me was to mount the ISO on a Windows machine and launch the deployment from there. Worked on 1st go!

tried this but when i upload the OVFs there is no option to configure the basic network settings and it wont let me configure the network from shell or the appliance directly.... at this rate im going back to 7
