It´s true, there is no free will. We can only observe our automatic, pre planned choices. The only thing we have control over is how we react to these pre planned choices from our observer state.

Here's a simple representation of the regress problem regarding the formulation of Free Will as requiring complete independence from any and all prior causes, in the form of a logical syllogism:

Premise 1: Free Will requires independence from all prior causes.

Premise 2: Our existence is contingent on prior causes, including our birth.

Conclusion: Therefore, if Free Will necessitates independence from all prior causes, we wouldn't exist to have any form of will, free or otherwise.

This syllogism highlights the potential absurdity or self-defeating nature of a definition of Free Will that demands complete independence from all prior causes; ie, this formulation of Free Will results in the commission of a fallacy of proving too much.

I feel a wave of "increasing RANDOMNESS..." !!!

Does free will exist? That’s a great question, and I would say if we truly had absolute free will then miracles couldn’t exist. Because that would be a Devine intervention changing the outcome for the better instead of free will.

It is both. There is causation as well as choice. He forgets external influences such as the spirit/soul.

Honestly, even if they did prove we have no free will, at least it feels as if I have it, like I woke up and chose to have a piece of bread. It feels, at least, like I decided to do that and not some deterministic force.

And even if it's random, cool! My thought process has always been random!

Nerp, preparation, mindfulness, making goals and, mentorship all create muscle memory so to speak and reflex. Most of the time especially around other people free will feels like a farce. We know the body moves before the conscious brain tells it to. But, there are many situations where we can decide upon already getting wet if we want to continue to get soaked and suffer when we have an umbrella in our bag.

I think it's the terminus ticket from the human perspective we have free will. It's just that 4d space is probably like 3d and can be traversed. So from that perspective everything's happening everywhere all at once

Choice is a illusion We have free will to a limit as the hamster has multiple choices in a cage a wheel a bowl of food and other toys we know the hamster is there and his choice but we still does not know which one he will choose knowing what the hamster would do would be boring and have no purpose we ate the apple and we are out of control

Or the universe is literally beyond our current understanding and boiling it down to two options is pretty silly.

Or, maybe there is no "you", "me", or "I", and therefore the concept of a choice is an illusion.

Nah scientist proved that the universe is a wave stuck in a state that isnt determined until viewed, so we have control when something is determined because we are the only things in the universe that observe. So we definitely have control, also random is just and explanation for something we ourselves cant reason for. We can act out of reason or out of random, we get to chose. YOU HAVE CONTROL!

If things happen as a causation to the last thing, isnt it less deterministic and random, or if any things happens randomly, isn't randomness is a determination we create with all the unknown consequences we develop with the half choices we make.

That's not really true: you can have a random universe that is deterministic. The only requirement for that to be possible is if time is not necessarily linear. Time, as we experience it is a human construct to explain event order. If we were traveling at the speed of light we would be everywhere at once.

This dichotomy is BS. What about making decisions and deliberate action? This is not uncontrolled causation and not random.

So it is either apollonian or dionysian? How blatantly simplistic and boring...
