Forgive me for not knowing all of the details, but there was a monk who lived in modern times, and everybody from all over the world used to go to him to listen to him preach the gospel of Jesus Christ many different people spoke many different single languages, and they all said they understood this monk as clear as day. when the monk was interviewed and asked how many different languages he knew the monk responded. I only know one and that is Greek. I’m not sure what they mean by speaking in tongues, but this has always been my understanding the man did not know any other languages than Greek, but was so filled with the Holy Spirit, that when he spoke, everyone heard the gospel in their own language, and he himself did not even realize it was happening, I believe that is the true gift of speaking in tongues

Thanks for sharing. I have recognized at least three different types of speaking in tongues: 1) praying in tongues 2) speaking in one language and being heard in another 3) speaking seemingly unintelligibly and another person interpreting. I was blessed to have worked in a community that included Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant Christians and I have heard from among each of these groups stories of speaking in tongues. I think it would be more far-fetched to say that these Christians from different branches of the faith got together and conspired to make up these confirming accounts with each other.

Very interesting point you make in the beginning!! (Why only ask about the supernatural aspects and not the others...)

I spoke in tongues once after trying DMT with friends. A loud voice over came us proclaiming "These are the heavenly gates", In my vision I saw my friend transform into St. Peter holding a fiery staff (which I found out later because at the time I didn't know who St. Peter was), the heavens opened up behind him and then everything went white. Next thing I know, in this white all encompassing white light I hear this mumbling sound and in my vision I could see a moving geometric puzzle start to develope, the pieces moving in all directions, the mumbling sound became more clear and sounded like people speaking Arabic, and it was obvious this Arabic sounding language was the force causing these puzzle pieces to move around in my vision, slowly they re-positioned themselves until I realized they we're building the 3D familiar reality I had previously been in and the Arabic sounding language was actually coming out of my mine and my friends mouths as we were all in a trance together. When we had come down enough to realize what was happening I looked over at my friend and he had this giant pillar of light coming out of the top of his head (I found out later these are called the chakras) Anyway, point being I was in the presence of GOD and started speaking in tongues and the feeling was ecstatic, this stuff is very real.

I was raised in a Pentacostal church. I do still think speaking in tongues is a real phenomenon, however, it is also something that can be faked. For the denomination I was in, it was very important, and they tried to have everyone do it. In fact you couldn't have a position on the church board unless you were able to do it. This sort of environment incentivizes people to fake it, or to delude themselves into thinking they can do something which they actually can't. The Bible says that speaking in tongues is not the only gift of the Holy Spirit. I was never able to speak in tongues, but I did have a dream that came true once, which is another spiritual gift. I think it's a mistake to overemphasize the tongues. I mean, people have the right to structure their churches and set rules (so long as it doesn't violate what the Bible says), but as an adult I decided to leave Pentacostalism entirely. I don't miss it at all, after having left. They stick on this one thing, and neglect other things like having a sanctuary that looks like a place of worship, and utilizing sacred music in their worship.

2:12 “it’s not as though you can provide any proof that they’re false” - the burden of proof is on the people professing this miracle.

What point were you trying to make about 1 Corinthians 14:2?

I always love your videos as they are logical and biblical. 1 Cor 12 and 14 are in the context of the church setting. Although 14 does contrast the gift with personal prayer language and is specifically aimed at order in the church meeting. As you noted, in 14v2, the person who speaks in a tongue speaks to God and not others. But they utter mysteries in the Spirit which edifies ourselves only 14v4. And again in v14, speaking in tongues edifies our spirit but doesnt help our mind. Then why do it? Because we speak mysteries in the Spirit. And then the Spirit can reveal them to us. No wonder Paul wrote most of the NT and had so many revelations when he spoke in tongues more than anyone in that church (including the leadership!) 14v18. Then when the Spirit reveals those truths to us so we can tell the body of Christ 14v19!

1 Cor 12, though, is about the gift of tongues. Thus, not everyone is given the gift of tongues. But like prophecy, we can desire the gift. But we must recognise that they are 2 separate things that Paul is talking about. Futhermore, even in the church context, Paul specifically says not to forbid speaking in tongues 14v39.

Blessings, brother! Well done again
