California Dreamin' by The Mamas & the Papas, released in 1965. It was written in 1963 by John Phillips and Michelle Phillips while they were living in New York, inspired by Michelle's nostalgia for California. At the time the Phillips were members of the folk group New Journeymen. It is considered to be one of the most representative songs of the sixties.

Am I the only one who feels that strange sense of sadness when missing a time that did not even live. I was born in this century (2001) just 20 years ago, but for some scary reason, this beautiful song makes me feel like I lived through that time and I miss it soooo much that I think I'm an old soul.
