Hi everyone, another update on the minimum requirements for the channel memberships. Starting today (Dec 17, 2020) creators with more than 1, 000 subscribers will be able to use Channel Memberships.

Previous Update: YouTube has recently changed the requirements for channel Membership, as of Nov, 25th, 2020, YouTube has reduced the number of required subscribers from 30, 000 to 5, 000 and expanded the availability of Channel Memberships to more countries. YouTube has also made a huge change to their Partner Program and TOS to allow running ads on non-monetized videos... and you won't earn any revenue from those ads.

I'm getting ready to launch my channel memberships and the one answer I cannot find anywhere is...will there be ads playin on my videos in my channel membership? I want to announce this as a "perk" in my intro video, but I am not 100% sure about this? Does anyone know? Thank you!!!

You don't need 30k for memberships, I've had members for a year now. And I'm only at 12k just to clear up.any confusion

Channel membership is a great idea to support independent content builders. Do you have a sense why still many youtubers do not activate this feature? It seems very strange to me that people are rejecting those extra revenue from channel membership. Thanks~
