Sky News host James Morrow says “radical left politics” in California have left Los Angeles “dangerously exposed”.

“The Democrat Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, is a real piece of work,” Mr Morrow said.

“When the fires broke out, she was on holiday in Africa, in Ghana to be precise, and several days after the disaster began, she made her way home.”

I feel worst for any animals lost in this tragedy. They had no vote, and the people in their area did not protect those creatures of God.

This is absolutely correct. After years and decades of experience with many fires in Southern California, one would think the leadership (i.e., Democrat-Marxocrat) would have learned to be better prepared, with (1) flammable brush management in the surrounding hillsides, (2) an increase in water storage (no new reservoir construction in many decades despite substantial population growth, all in an arid semi-desert), (3) an emphasis in real firefighting and firefighters and not on abstractions (DEI hiring of women firefighters, gays, lesbians, etc.), (4) provision for adequate water, and essentially (5) an attitude of overall preparedness. The leadership knows about the volatile hillsides, they know about the weather, they know about the notorious Santa Ana winds that fan these fires, they knew about the water shortage situation -- yet their priorities were where the sun doesn't shine. Woke-ism at its most illustrative.

The governor signed a bill that directed the water to flow from North California out to the Pacific ocean to help preserve smelts, a type of fish. Now, there is a shortage of water in fire hydrants as a result of the water being put out to sea instead of flowing to South California.

The terrible fires in Victoria a while ago, where people died on winding hill roads, with a build up of fuel on the side of the road to make things worse, must’ve been horrifying. I drove through the area not long after and spoke to locals that basically agreed that greenie lefty policies made things worse when the fires took hold, and those policies on a total ban of dead wood removal created furnace conditions on the very roads people were trying to use to escape.
They told me that the oxygen was sucked out of the air and most suffocated.

Here in So Cal, we call her Buzzcut Bass. She was useless on the city council for years and is now useless as mayor. L.A has had an incredible string of useless mayors, its' quite something. Bass, Garcetti, Villagosa.
