During his Independence Day address, President Donald Trump continued to stoke the culture war, saying, “We will never allow an angry mob to tear down our statues, erase our history, indoctrinate our children or trample on our freedoms.” He also spoke highly of his coronavirus response at the Fourth of July gathering, where masks and social distancing were optional. NBC’s Geoff Bennett reports for Sunday TODAY.

I would like to know why it is that in 2018 we had one and a half million worldwide that died of tuberculosis and we didn't shut things down, we didn't have to wear masks, we didn't destroy our economy, we did none of those things. So why is it that with less death, and better recovery rate than tuberculosis we are now required to wear masks, stay home, social distance, ruin small businesses and our economy in 2020?
