CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The Economics Teacher (Ben Stein) calls attendance and notices a few absences.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
Teenaged Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) is a legend in his own time thanks to his uncanny skill at cutting classes and getting away with it. Intending to make one last grand duck-out before graduation, Ferris calls in sick, "borrows" a Ferrari, and embarks on a one-day bacchanal through the streets of Chicago. Dogging Ferris' trail at every turn is high-school principal Rooney (Jeffrey Jones), determined to catch Bueller in the act of class-cutting. Writer/director John Hughes once again tries to wed satire, slapstick, and social commentary, as Ferris Bueller's Day Off starts like a house afire and goes on to make "serious" points about status-seeking and casual parental cruelties. It brightens up considerably in the last few moments, when Ferris' tattletale sister (Jennifer Grey) decides to align herself with her merry prankster sibling. A huge moneymaker, Ferris Bueller's Day Off eventually spawned a TV sitcom.

9th grade geometry class my teacher would ask the class questions and we would all stare at him with blank faces. He would always say "Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?"

I love how they managed to make Ferris’ school look like the most boring thing you could possibly imagine, so then it actually does make you go “Wow, no wonder he wanted to skip this”

Legend has it, if Simmone hadn't interrupted him he'd still be saying "Bueller" to this day

Simone Adamley: Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Ben Stein actually had a degree in economics so he gave an actual lecture in this scene as his role

Kristy Swanson still remembers this speech and can recite it word-for-word to this day.

When I first saw Ben Stein in this movie, I found it hard to believe later on that he hosted his own game show and I found him out to be an extremely brilliant man -- a lawyer, and author, an actor, etc.

This is hysterical. My daughter's in 7th grade and her Civics teacher sounds like this. Dry and monotone. Nice guy but his calmness can put anyone to sleep. For open house when the Civics teacher started to speak i turned around and told my husband "Bueller, Bueller".

Someone should make a 10 hour video out of this scene.

I like it when Adamouski just raises her hand when her name is called. Good thing the teacher saw it.

My history teacher is exactly like this. He teaches AP US II. And he’s known for being the best teacher in my school because he prepares you for the AP Exam really well. But my god does he talk in such a monotone voice. He just goes on and on and on just like this guy.
