From my perspective as an American who lived in the Philippines for nearly 3 years traveling around the country with my beautiful Filipina girlfriend during that time, I have to say the Philippines very pleasantly surprised me! The people are beautiful, friendly souls, the culture is very unique and grows on you, the water, mountains, and beaches are unbelievable and the malls are out of this world and unlike anything in the US. They are like miniature cities with parks, fountains, flowered terraces and more restaurants, shops, banks, salons and movie theaters than you could imagine. The food is quite good although not even close to being on par with Thailand. The infrastructure is spotty but okay. It’s not perfect but it’s much more enjoyable than people can imagine. I love the Philippines and its people! It’s a developing country, not third world.

I've lived in Hawaii and I love it and then came the Philippines where I have spent my life in the last 3 years now. The Philippines is closest I can call home after Hawaii and I love it here. One of the best decisions I've made.

Before i came to the US, i thought life here is always sweet and all people are rich. My eyes were opened to the reality 4 years after when I started working for human services where i realized that USA being a well known progressive country, has a lot of impoverished people and families, uneducated, dirty homes (in and out), street beggars and homeless people. I realized that wherever you are, whether 3rd world or 1st world, there is always a problem. No perfect world. I still work in the human services side, and i know how real life here in the US. Philippines just happen to have higher poverty cases. People are nicer in the Philippines than the US, in my honest opinion.

I am glad that there are positive development in my country and hope it will continue for more years until majority of Filipinos can already feel some degree of comfort.

Grateful for tourists and content creators who come and explore what my country can offer.

The smiles, acceptance, accommodation and total lack of racial discrimination makes the Philippines even more free than other nations that say that they have freedom.

I hate hearing from those who always say the Philippines is a third world country. Many foreigners say that because some some bloggers only feature the negative side of our country. What if I am a blogger also, and show you the negative sides of your country. Even the richest country have these people like they see in my country, like homeless people, garbage, crimes, etc. Hiw do you feel?
