41%?? That’s WAY better than I expected. This actually gives me hope rather than the soul-crushing anxiety that most of these types of videos cause

Your odds are not based solely on the population, but on the individual. If you are a stellar applicant with a strong passion for medicine, medical schools will be begging for you to go to their school (scholarships 😊)

Don't worry about the statistics too much, just work on yourself and apply with everything you got. Not everything is a strict percentage, you can get yourself in if you work hard enough for it.

Wow 41% is a very doable number. In india it drops down to anywhere between 1-4%.

In India 18 lakh (1.8 million )students apply for government medical college and only 80 thousand
Students accepted so selection ratio is very very very low 🥲🙁

I’m annoyed when people compare our acceptance rate with their acceptance rate from their countries. The reason why your acceptance rate is probably so low is because your country has few medical schools and higher amounts of students, or your Government doesn’t care to open more.

In Italy, we have one exam to get accepted in med school. Each year 60°000-70°000 people trying to get in, with only 10°000 place into the all universities. Hence, in Italy, we have a one possibility on six/seven to enter in medical school ( acceptance rate = 16, 6%) . Lucky you in America!!!

I think people are forgetting that this is every single American Medical school (I believe that’s the stats he is using). These are not equivalent to your one undergrad school. However, keep in mind that many people apply to dozens of schools, and some only apply to a few. If you are looking to get into medical school you have to make sure you are well rounded on your application, don’t apply too soon if you don’t feel ready because you’ll likely end up in the 60% rejected. Also keep in mind that schools outside of America are a viable and valid option and you will not be looked at as less then if you end up going to one. So much goes into getting into medical school, and you can see from these stats that it’s a total crapshoot sometimes. Don’t put your worth into whether or not you get in your first try. Just take what you’ve learned from rejection and try again next cycle. No one cares if you get in when you’re 21 or 81 don’t feel discouraged, you got this!
