Sarge, thanks for the video. Mountain house is one of the few companies that can make this 25 year claim accurately. They have been around for a long time and have been producing freeze dried food to put in army MREs for decades. August farms and all of these fly by night companies cut out using meat in their meals to try and save on cost. They also put in a lot of their calories from sugars. Mountain house uses real meat in their meals and keeps sugar content extremely low. You get what you pay for as Mountain house is more expensive. In shtf, you need high quality food to keep your mind sharp. I lived through the texas freeze over a year ago and I can confirm you want high quality food in shtf and not the bargain bin stuff.

Great point sarge. Gonna have to dig up some info on that. I do know they make a few different products in different packages (#10 cans etc.) but I had totally forgotten about them. I’ll be stopping by Walmart after work. Good lookin out sarge, stay frosty.

I think it would be interesting if you did a review on the food in the buckets since you got two

Good old fashioned hard tack will last decades. My teeth may not be able to handle it by then but hey, it's food. 🤣

Most grave vaults are guaranteed not to leak for fifty years. If I didn't think I was going to need emergency food preps in the next five to seven years I would not buy them.

FEMA recommends that all Americans have a supply of emergency food for 72 hrs. That's a 3 day supply of emergency food. Not 2 days, a 2 day supply of emergency food, won't feed anyone for 3 days. You'd need to buy at least 2 of those buckets of emergency food to feed a family of 4 for 4 days. Simple mathematics! Maybe they'll last 30 years, who knows. If your 58, you'd be 88 in 30 years. You could always open one up and try it, just for kicks!

I won’t live 30 years to see it open. Praying that we never have to open them up.

Great question. I would rather be more realistic and say 10-15 years at the most. I have seen that brand for around for a little over 11 years now. Can’t say exactly how long they have been in business.

This is a question that nobody has discussed....
HOW DO WE KNOW IT WILL BE EDIBLE IN 20-30 I'm sure they have data on it, but I want to see the results after a decade at least...I've heard great things on Auguson Farms...

I started out prepping when I was 19 and I'm 26 now. I have got 6 of their one month buckets. When I'm in my mid 50s I'll crack one open and see. But I don't think I'll make it to 50 the way the world is going. Probably will have to use that food with in the next few years, or more like months.

I'm 58 also and there's a good chance I won't outlive a can of vienna sausages.

It is more of a marketing thing. I bought one to have, in case. But it doesn't seem it would last decades
