It didn't short because positive was on positive and natural was on nutral. Cross the wires and then you will see.
But others don't try it.

It would not short because both are on same phase of power if u plugged it into an outlet with power fed from a different phase it would short

Widow maker plug. Those shouldn’t exist. But yeah nothing happens because the duplex is already connected so you aren’t changing anything electrically when doing this. It’s just dumb to have that cord to begin with.
