only nolan has the balls to say this and get away with it because he created the greatest superhero trilogy of all time

I‘m happy that TDK is not connected to the DCEU in any way

Who's looking forward to seeing his next film Tenet?

Nolan is awesome. I never understand how people say he doesn't understand the source material.

One of the best our era of directors, long live Nolan

I was mislead by the title of this video. Nolan says nothing of the MCU. You sir, get a dislike.

Brilliant director. His words here are an indictment on the DCEU which is collapsing as he speaks.

Clickbait. He doesn't talk specifically about the MCU.

I can listen to Mr Nolan talk about films all day.

The more he talks about imagining the endings to all three films, the more hypnotic it comes across of how evocative those final shots of BB, TDK, and TDKR are at justifying the titles and meaning of those films. BB establishes with Batman swinging into the camera that his crusade has begun and he has cast his heroic shadow over Gotham, TDK descends with him riding out into the distance on the run from the law as the lone knight he is, and TDKR ascends with the rising platform to show that his legacy has risen from the remains of what's left.

I think it’s easy to appreciate the dark knight trilogy and the mcu. The Dark Knight trilogy is one of the best trilogies ever out on screen and the mcu is found a way to create a movie like infinity war which handles a gigantic cast of major characters and create a good story with getting convoluted.

Nolan gets it about characters living on and not needing unnecessary sequels 🙌🙏

Nolan trilogy eats the whole MCEU and their funny movies alive

He never mentioned marvel and also marvel say the same thing, they have a loose plan of sequels and the larger universe but they always focus their energy to making the best standalone films. That's why they are so successful.

So many biased arguments in the comments lmao I'm glad I can appreciate both

in my opinion:
Nolan is probably the best director in the world right now.
TDK Trilogy is amazing.
TDK is the best Superhero movie of all time.
Logan i'd say is second.

The DCEU hasn't had the best start but I think Man of Steel was good, Justice League was pretty good & Wonder Woman is the best DC movie since the Dark Knight. I really hope DC improves though because I really want them to be succesful.

The MCU is great. Does it have average/bad movies? Yes, most of phase 1 wasn't very good, Age of Ulton was average and don't get me started on Thor 2 & Iron Man 3 lol but it also has good/great ones: Avengers Assemble, Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Spiderman Homecoming, Thor Ragnarok and they even made Antman work. Are they dragging it out too much? I don't believe so, they can't just throw something massive like Infinity War at us, it needs to be built up to over a series of films. The MCU is something that people didn't think would work but it has and not because it's made a lot of money but because it's genuinely been something great and memorable.

Oh and there's been good/great Marvel movies outside of the MCU too (Logan (Obviously), Deadpool, X-Men First Class, Days of Future Past, Spiderman 1 & 2)

It was never dc vs marvel, it was is and will always be nolan vs marvel and there i say it, marvel will never ever come close to dark knight trilogy

I'd love to see a conversation with Chris Nolan and Matt Reeves one day.

The fact that he even acknowledges MCU (albeit, not directly) is an insult in itself. No, no towards MCU. It's an insult to Nolan that he has to even bring them up. Nolan's worst film is worth ten MCU's best films.

antona.
