I will say that actors have gotten extremely good at acting in front of green screens, but I do agree that a significant amount of the movie magic feels lost when doing it that way. I mean, just look at the performances that well trained actors gave in The Phantom Menace versus relatively unexpreienced actors gave in the original Star Wars. It's amazing how big of a difference there was with how the performances landed. Real sets, filming on location, and practical effects (no matter how dated or cheesy looking) will always lock me into a film much more than a big CGI, special effects driven, modern block buster spectacle ever will. The main difference being is that one is being filmed while it's actually happening, and the other one is almost completely created in post production.

Well, he loved Black Panther and has never said anything negative _specifically_ about Marvel. He's a director with different sensibilities. Doesn't mean he dislikes them. Hell, he's praised Michael Bay in the past! The man loves cinema, regardless who's making it.
