From what I've heard through the years, Nolan is actually pretty chill as a director. Allows improv, takes advice from actors, jokes around, asks his actors if they think "this" method would work and collabs with them etc. He basically co-wrote Inception with DiCaprio after taking his advice about altering Cobb's backstory(adding in the family element of Mal/the kids as originally Cobb was just...a thief who wanted his debt/criminal history erased). He's apparently one of the most comfortable directors to work with

Speaking of Nolan, “The Prestige” is completely underrated. It’s an amazingly fantastic movie that no one ever talks about.

I really like when A list celebrities like Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr still genuinely get excited to work with certain directors. It shows the magic of moviemaking has not entirely gone away.

Looking at RDJ's performance and enthusiasme on interviews after Oppenheimer. There's no doubt he was genuine in his comment

Imagine how excited his actors must be when there is a sitting scene.

No need to attend a film school to become legendary.

The 'doesn't allow chairs' thing was cleared up - it's more a case of Nolan wants to work fast and pack up to do the next thing. He just avoids letting folks lose their rhythm because they sat down, got comfy and lost the momentum from getting too relaxed - but if you NEED to sit down, then of course, but he's more about keeping the pace moving so they can get more done.

The way he combines complex narrative with non linear storytelling is genius

Memento is one of the most incredible films ever made, cemented him as a writer and director and was way ahead of it's time.

It’s interesting to learn about the process Nolan and his actors go through to make his films. He’s definitely able to execute complex ideas on screen pretty well
