when i was in malaysia i met an 'illegal immigrant' from nepal. whenever i was at my hotel around 8pm his bus would drop off. he would IMMEDIATELY start drinking. and when i say drinking i mean this guy is walking around stumbling and he saw i was white and asked if i was english or european. i told him american. he said let me show you something. he showed me a little ''trap house'' just a block away. a LOT of malaysians drink in secret . but this guy took the cake. he would shuttle off to work at 4am . and looked completely normal for a labor worker despite downing a LITER of liquor less than 8 hour earlier and staying up till 3am... they dont mess around. eventually we became friends. he explained he sends half his money to his family in nepal. and its worth a LOT more there (we are talking ringits/ malaysian currency, for perspective, about 1/4th of a dollar in value) they got some gumption.
