Dude, how ignorant? Alexander the Great was Greek, that's basic stuff! Macedonians claim the name, but they are Slavic people that appeared later on in the region. FYI, there is also a big part of Northern Greece called Macedonia, thus the legal dispute that made Macedonia change its name to North Macedonia (meaning there is a Southern one in Greece).
