Hard painful lumps on the male genital area can be one an infection thing. Second it can be because of some allergic reactions or it can be because of any injury or unknown cause many at times. These painful reaction or painful nodules which are because of sexually transmitted infection need a thorough investigation and most often whenever there is a history of extramarital exposure or when there is a sexual contact with an unknown person and any lesion on the genital area has to be treated under sexually transmitted infections. In some cases we take help of lab investigations like blood tests. In addition to this rarely a skin biopsy may also be required to diagnose and treat it effectively. Another reason for painful raised lesions on the genitals can be allergic reactions like lichen planus or psoriatic plaque or it can be because of latex allergy because of use of condoms. In addition to this painful raised bumps can happen because of some irritants which have been used either to clean that area or for sexual pleasure. In this case a proper history had to be taken and look into the matter as to what is exactly causing this reaction and we have treat it. Very rarely insect bite reactions can be happening in this area and this is more common in people who go for trips or who go for night stay in camps. In these people definitely they can have some insect bite reaction in this area.
