What is the largest country subdivision in the world?

This might appear to be a tough question at first, but what I mean by this is what is the largest state or province in the entire world. Alaska might be a good first guess, but it quickly becomes apparent that this couldn't be further from the truth. As it turns out, Russia is home to the largest subdivisions in the world, the largest being the Sakha Republic, which is huge enough to be the 8th largest country in the world.

Many people don't know how massive Russia is, in fact, Russia is so large that you can fit the entirety of Russia inside of Russia

Siberia is an underrated region. Sakha/Yakutia has its own Siberian Turkic ethnicity, culture, and language, separate from the Russian one. It also of course has a large chunk of the Arctic Circle and the Arctic Ocean.

Hello there from Krasnoyarsk Krai
Fun fact: Line between the most northern and southern points of Krasnoyarsk Krai(almost 3500km including Islands) is almost as long as country of Chilie and its almost the same as the line between Krasnoyarsk and Moscow, that is crossing 4 time zones
So yeah, i used to fly 3000km to visit my native city and didn't crossed even the region border

The Northwest Territories (Canada) was the largest sub-jurisidiction in the world until 1999 when Nunavut was split off.

For those wondering, Uttar Pradesh in India is the largest country subdivision by population

States and provinces tend to get bigger in the more sparcely populated regions.
Siberia is one of the first things that comes to mind when thinking of sparcely populated areas.

Russia having a small piece of it large enough to be in the top 10 biggest countries in the world on its own is really fitting.

I’m Russian and I also have to admit how amazingly beautiful these places are. Some unique ethnic groups live there too. And from November to late April the northern parts of the region get extremely cold. Many days with -40C and sometimes as low as -50 or even -60C.

Fun fact: The Northwest Territories prior to the Nunavut Act in 1999 had a about a total of 3, 238, 000 km² (1, 250, 200 mi²) Surpassing even Sakha Republic's 3, 083, 523 km² (1, 190, 555 mi²) Had it not been for the Nunavut Act of 1999, The Northwest Territories in Canada would've been the largest Subdivision in the world.
