Quite a good video though I get my back up when people say the mixture "explodes" during combustion. No, you do not want an explosion inside the cylinder, that is called 'detonation' and it will cause pistons to crack and engines to fail. You want a controlled, progressive and predictable burn of the mixture, which creates the heat to expand the gases. It is the expansion of the gases which pushes the piston down.

I n 1862 Frenchman Alphonse Beau de Rochas a french engineer patented the four stroke principle. In 1816 Nicholas Otto built the first 4 stroke engine based on the De Rochas patent. Its not the Otto cycle.he did make improvements on the original patent. Benz followed suite as did Maybach
