Imagery/Descriptive lines immerse you more in the record. Like in stillmatic intro, where he said "stepped over dope fiends" when describing the typical project setting. Most rappers would've said "fiends passed out in the hallway" but in 5 syallables nas puts you there especially if you've had to walk around passed out fiends.
