Kratom is a tree. The leaves are used as a recreational drug and as medicine. Kratom is banned by some states in the U.S. due to safety concerns.

People use kratom for withdrawal from heroin, morphine, and other opioid drugs, as well as cough, depression, anxiety, and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses.

Using kratom can also be unsafe. Kratom use has been linked to serious side effects including hallucinations, seizures, liver damage, withdrawal, and death. Due to these and other serious safety concerns, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) continues to warn people to avoid using products containing kratom or its ingredients.

How does it work?
Kratom contains a chemical called mitragynine. Mitragynine works like opioid drugs such as codeine and morphine to relieve pain.

Uses & Effectiveness?
Insufficient Evidence for
Anxiety.
Cough.
Depression.
Diabetes.
Diarrhea.
High blood pressure.
Pain.
Withdrawal from heroin, morphine, and other opioid drugs.
Other conditions.
More evidence is needed to rate the effectiveness of kratom for these uses.

When taken by mouth: Kratom is POSSIBLY UNSAFE for most people. Kratom can cause many side effects, including tongue numbness, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, need to urinate, constipation, aggression, hallucinations, delusions, and thyroid problems. Kratom in large doses may cause trouble breathing, brain swelling, seizure, liver damage, and death.

Kratom can cause dependence when taken regularly. People who use kratom regularly and then stop taking it may experience decreased appetite, diarrhea, muscle pain and spasms, twitches, watery eyes, anxiety, trouble sleeping, anger, hot flashes, and fever.
Special Precautions & Warnings:
Pregnancy: Kratom is POSSIBLY UNSAFE when taken by mouth during pregnancy. Babies born to women who have used kratom during pregnancy have experienced withdrawal symptoms. These babies required special treatment for addiction.

Breast-feeding: There isn't enough reliable information to know if kratom is safe to use when breast-feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.

Alcoholism: People with alcohol dependence who use kratom appear to have an increased risk of suicide compared to those who use kratom but are not dependent on alcohol.

Mental disorders: In theory, kratom might worsen existing mental disorders. Also, people with mental disorders who use kratom appear to have an increased risk of suicide compared to those who use kratom but do not have a mental disorder.

My mother used kratom for pain related to terminal cancer. She had prescription for fentanyl but always opted for kratom. My mother passed away on November 21, 2021. I feel so glad that she had alternatives for pain relief.

Title should be "I took too much Kratom for 60 days"

I’ve been taking Kratom for over 6 years. I’ve never had any issues with taking it. The only problem I’ve had was my pain went away, my anxiety went away, and I lost 80+ lbs which is good because I was heavily overweight. It’s saved my life!

I broke my collarbone snowboarding in February, I got surgery and opted to take Kratom powder instead of oxycodone and it was the best thing I’ve done especially during the lockdown in NYC, which probably lead me to addiction. I started my YouTube channel again full time and I’m finally back on track with my life. Thank you to Kratom for managing my pain and avoiding me further addiction to prescribed opiate painkillers.

Man abuses kratom, stops cold turkey and experiences withdrawal. Shocker.

Kratom is an incredible medicine. Be responsible and don’t abuse it.

Not trying to diminish your experience but IF you have pancreatitis, you would be doubled over in extreme agony; never mind sitting up comfortably and shooting a video. You would be in hospital within the first 8-10 hours of experiencing pain that virtually incapacitates you.

I struggled with Opiate addiction for years. Lost my 20+ year career in Fire/Rescue, lost my marriage, contemplated suicide more than once, couldn’t hold down a job…

I was desperate and eventually read about Kratom in February of 2022.

It took all of thirty minutes after my very first OPMS Gold shot to feel like myself again for the first time in YEARS.

It totally ended my desire to find opiates. Zero desire for that Oxy. It reversed years of chronic pain, GI issues, I was able to actually get restful sleep, had energy to get out of bed and get back to living life.

I am now several weeks into an incredible career (not a job, a career), and am well on my way to rebuilding a life that I can be proud of.

Actually switched from OPMS Black shots to the Borneo green vein capsules yesterday. Still need to get the dosage dialed in, but so far, the caps seem to be working just as well at a lower dose than the shots.

This stuff is a God send.

I've been taking kratom for 10 years and never felt high. Rarely ever felt any euphoria. Kratom does not compare to oxy. Hate when people compare it and give it a bad name. This plant saves lives, doesn't destroy them. Dont abuse it, stay at low doses and drink a lot of water and you'll be fine.

You sound ridiculous saying -- "there's no dosage for it, " yes there is... 1-3 grams is a normal dose. About one teaspoon(roughly 2 grams). 4-5 grams is a good amount. 6-10 grams + is a heavy dose. More than that at once is a bit too much imo. You shouldn't need more than maybe 2-3 gs for a beginner if it's good quality. Always buy from well-reviewed vendors (I recommend mitra man) smoke shop powder is gonna be bunk. There you go

I started taking kratom in capsules (~2g per day) a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been suffering with chronic pain for 3 years. Taking kratom, I’m pain decreased enough to be able to work more hours (I’m a Massage Therapist), and get stuff accomplished with the increased energy/decreased pain. I’ve even been able to take a yoga class and exercise! HUGE change/improvement! I’ve never experienced feeling high while on kratom, only energetic, calm, and MUCH LESS pain. I have to have bloodwork done routinely due to other meds I’m taking. I pray there are no adverse side effects from kratom because it’s been the ONLY thing that has actually HELPED me.

One question, , , what was your diet like during this process? Also were you drinking alcohol or caffeine products or any pharmaceuticals during process?

I think a general rule of thumb is that if a substance is psychoactive then you shouldn’t take it daily. Well unless something is chronically wrong with you and that didn’t seem to be the case. Thank you for the honesty with your experience! more people need to be forward with this. (Btw I do Kratom every once in a while)

Thanks for sharing your experience although kratom is natural because it is literally just a leaf. You could compare it to a coca leaf or a poppy flower, but to compare it to heroin or cocaine is a bit disingenuous considering how much chemical processing and extraction need to happen to create both of those substances

I know EXACTLY what you went through and it's likely not pancreatitis, nor is it the kratom itself. I had the exact same issue where it started to give me really bad gut pain and I felt sick and feverish. You may not believe me, but it's the literal leaf matter, not the kratom. The powder should not be consumed the way people do it in the west. *** It should not be swallowed! *** I've been using kratom for 4 years daily now and had the same issue as you after the first couple weeks. I almost just gave up with it. Then someone online told me you need to make a boiled and filtered tea out of it. After doing it the filtered way, all those negative symptoms went away forever. It never makes me sick anymore, BUT the withdrawal is horrible.

I did it, not even every day, for six months and the withdrawal was horrible. It went on and on and on. I could see why a person who is okay with being on it all time would think it was great but my experience is that it is really awful shit to stay the fuck away from.

Very important to use a digital scale that measures into 0.1 grams, so instead of "about 4 grams, maybe more, maybe less you can dose accurately "4.0 grams" ... Just using a spoon, even a carefully measured teaspoon, is more likely to lead to consuming Too Much at a time. **EDIT: rearranged some punctuation**

You took way too much, and millions of people have pancreatitis who have never taken kratom. I understand warning people, but with the amount you took it’s not a fair warning. I do agree they need to put the amounts to take on the package, but everyone can and should go online to find the amount to take. I don’t know if it’s mind control or not, but I still don’t take the recommended amount, and it still helps.

Taking kratom is better than being suicidal all day. I don't even care if it's gonna cause me to die within a year. I'll take those negative side effects any day, just give me my kratom.

It’s ridiculous how many people are saying that kratom is great as an outsider watching someone else take so much of this “herb” and be concerned. It’s terrifying, he’s not addicted according to him, but he’ll never skip a day, he chugs down 2 little bottles a day, he’s never interested in sex anymore, he’s lost sooo much weight, his sleep is horrible, and even when he’s home after 12 hours of work he’ll take it again. He’s only been on it for about a year. Extremely concerning for anyone looking from the outside in.
