Anirban Bandyopadhyay - Why Explore Cosmos and Consciousness?

preview_player
Показать описание
Cosmos and consciousness seem utterly different, cosmos encompassing the vast universe, consciousness emerging from tiny brains. Yet consciousness is the basis of religion, and some cosmologists speak quietly, profoundly, about consciousness. A few scientists and philosophers claim that, even without God, consciousness can be something of a cosmic imperative.

Well this seems to be very clear that consciousness or "life" per se Cannot be said to arise at a particular scale - cell, atom, body, organ ?
So either it is the whole of existence that has to be living or nothing at all. (Then living is just a word you use for certain biological machines that operate a certain way for certain time period.)

Thank you for your humble work Anirban …

Now that he's mentioned it- it actually seems common sense that your whole body would be responsible for your subjective experience. No particularity of the "vessels" we identify in, but it's entirety

The word "frequency" is poorly defined without a clear definition of time.

If we can figure out dolphin language, then maybe we can figure out "brain language".

Good show.. I respect the work Anirban has done within his field. . In this interview he has followed an llogical route to arrive at the conclusion that the UNIVERSE is intelligent..( Deism). I FAIL to see the connection justifying a leap from insights into BIOLOGICAL consciousness to a broad Universal implication involving non-biological matter and forces.. Whether logical or not EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion, even incorrect ones..

This definition of consciousness sounds too off base and simplistic.

Ancient vedic system does underlines this idea. For instance, Ayurvedic system does follow such ideas and they take the help of vedic astrology to spot the body parts for locating reasons for deceases. String theorists would love this too. .

Indian-english is very hard to understand. Have really tried to understand this guy, but his ”english” is not possible to understand.

Religion has provided completely wrong or far inadequate explanations for too long a time for me to take them seriously.

However we actually gain more usable understanding will come through science.

Still its interesting to hear cultural explanations from different worldviews.

I just dont think these bring us anywhere closer to truth at all.

You are very far from the truth. You will never know spiritual things beyond what you experience here.
