When placing your Rocks and Mountains, you should use Rocks to build the mountain peak because they are the lower value rock card, and surround it with Mountains.
Rocks give +3 hp and +3hp for adjacent rocks or mountains. Mountains give +6hp only for each adjacent rock or mountain.

Edit: Also you should not equip weapons for at least the first two loops. Having your hero weaker will cause battles to go on longer, which means you get more days per loop which increases the spawn rate of enemies and gives you a power boost on loop 3 or 4.

Spiders are great enemies for card milling. They are pretty much useless other than that though. You'll get better ways to mills cards later but early game they are super powerful.

I would definitely would like to see more of this, probably a mini-series? BTW, try to plan your tile placing more, in a way that is also a part of the build you will be doing.
