I think that also when there's humidity under the pot (such as a cachepot that gets some water in the bottom, while the pot is higher up) the roots tend to reach more out of the pot.
I have a Neon Pothos that is in that Umbrella Tree situation. I'm doing my best to wait until spring, so far so good 😅

as for the timing, my personal opinion and take is that for most people who rely heavily on natural light from outside the window would need to wait until early spring, cause these plants usually do have a very visible growth-dormancy cycle. For some people who provide growth light and maintain temperature, i think its not that necessary cause the conditions are relatively stable throughout the year.

This is THE best timing for you dropping this video. I was just picking a video to watch while I repot my absurdly rootbounded Tradescantia that was outside during the summer and grew like crazy. I literally just found that she started to bloom but I think if I would wait longer I would never kick my butt to do this 😂 It had to be done. Thanks for being here during this process 😂👌

Even though it was in need of a repot, your umbrella plant looked so happy! I'm wondering how you care for it? I recently bought one and resold it because it stopped 'sparking joy' for me.. after about a week lol. Didn't get sick or anything, I'm just not sure how fast they grow and if it's right for me.
