@Pianote @Lisa Hi, Lisa! Just yesterday I was trying to explain to a friend how to build chords based on the degree of the scale he is building the song in. I explained to him only the 4 chords at the top of the table in your video. I also told him that THE FORM of the chords (major, minor, diminished, augmented and so on) can not be chosen by the creator of the song. By my understanding, once you have chosen the scale of the song, you cannot choose what type of chords you play - the scale of the song and the degree of the chords you're playing is "forcing" you to play the right type of chords so that you don't get out of the scale (not to use in your chords notes that are out of the scale you're in). And then I came across the Augmented chord while I was re-studying the major and the natural minor scales and I noticed that the augmented chords don't fit into the major and the natural minor scales (because they would use notes that are out of the scale). And now I was wondering about the role of the existence of the augmented chords. Are the augmented chords made to use them in any scale you want, even in the major and the natural minor, although it uses notes out of the scale? Or are they made to be used only in the scales in which they fit? Is my understanding of creating chords wrong? Or am I right and the augmented chords should not be used in the scales like the major and the natural minor? I know that rules are made to be broken, and there could be many loose answers. But I would appreciate it very much if I could get a tight answer. Thanks for all your great videos and I'm wishing you a wonderful day!
