This is very insightful. I have an INTJ child and this is spot on. Would love to hear your take on the ENTP!

With compliments it’s more complicated. We don’t need to hear that we’ve done a good job. We know that. What we need instead of words is trust and therefore more autonomy, freedom and responsibility, so we can make the real changes.

I am an INTJ. Took the Meyer Briggs . This explains a lot to me at 45. I no longer feel weird and out of place. 😂 I believe i am of average intelligence. My favorite game is chess and I love being alone to focus on the future ideas I have in the works.

It depends on the type of compliment. If someone said 'you did an incredible job on that project', I love a comment like that and feel accomplished and appreciated and maybe a little superior to everyone. But if someone said 'you (always) do incredible work on projects', that would make me self conscious and put me on the spot. I'd be terrified of doing anything that doesn't live up to that image and start to feel like I'm going to sabotage myself by overthinking it. It's one thing to be appreciated for something you've done, but quite another to have expectations of flawlessness from other people.

Depending on my performance, and the compliment delivered, and the manner in which I heard it - your praise will either temporarily inoculate me against imposter syndrome or exacerbate it. Best to just say the compliment you were going to say to me to someone else that needs to know that I know what I am doing.

Oh my.. Oh my... Please stop saying that INTJ is the most intelligent type...
I am INTJ and prolly the only INTJ among my parents' children and interestingly, I am the "dumbest" instead... Possibly the least achiever..
Well, we are humans and we have our ranges too..but many traits mentioned here is true though...

You shouldn't call all INTJ's intelligent or mysterious, they're not.
