Whipporwill Hollar's Receipe....spread cabbage and fill jars. With Quart jars use 1 teaspoon salt, sugar and vinegar. For pints us one half teaspoon of salt, sugar and vinegar. Water bath for 29 minutes and done.

Miss Lori uses 1 tsp of each ingredient not tablespoon. I asked about pint jars and she said to also use 1 tsp of each.

I just now saw your video. You said to use 1 table spoon each of sugar, salt and vinegar for each pint jar of cabbage. Either you used way to much for the pint jars, or Ms. Lori on Whippoorwill Holler used way to less for her quart jars. She only used 1 teaspoon (not 1 tablespoon) each of sugar, salt and vinegar for each quart jar (not pint jars as you used). Been following Ms. Lori for a long long time. Love her videos.

I asked Miss Lori about doing pints for seasoning and she said to use the teaspoon amount for pints same as quarts.

I made this exact recipe but was disappointed that it didn't taste like fermented sauerkraut. Tasted like sweet and vinegar cabbage..

please tell me just what you mean when you say just be sure it isn't like coleslaw? I shred my cabbage when I make coleslaw, , and it look sexactly like that, so are you talking about something other than the size of the shred/?

Why did my sour Kraut loose brine when water bathing I filled the jars as full as I could it looked fine till it sat overnight and then it was not covered with the brine the next morning

Sauerkraut is made by natural fermantation shouldnt need any vinegar just salt and time.

Why would you destroy all the healthy bacteria in sauerkraut? Doesn't that defeat the benefits of sauerkraut?
