Eastern dragon always looks elegant compared to western dragon, both have a great design, but i prefer a dragon that slithering in the sky than a dragon that flapping in the sky.

I love Eastern Dragons, they really feel like wise old deities and not just giant lizards. I use this kind of dragon in my fantasy stories all the time 🥰

Oooohhhh... Now I get why Magikarp evolves into Gyarados and why one of its pokedex entries says it can jump higher than a mountain

The Bakunawa is a serpent-like dragon in Philippine mythology. It is believed to be the cause of eclipses, earthquakes, rains, and wind. The movements of the Bakunawa served as a geomantic calendar system for ancient Filipinos and were part of the shamanistic rituals of the babaylan. It is usually depicted with a characteristic looped tail and a single horn on the nose. It was generally believed to be a sea serpent, but are also variously believed to inhabit either the sky or the underworld.

Due to increasing trade contacts with South Asia and the Indianization of Southeast Asia, the Bakunawa later became syncretized with the Nāga, Rahu, and Ketu of Hindu-Buddhist mythology.

Etymology

Bakunawa is believed to be originally a compound word meaning "bent snake", from *ba(ŋ)kuq ("bent", "curved") and *sawa ("large snake", "python"). Spelling variants include Vakonawa, Baconaua, or Bakonaua.

Interesting, that so many different cultures around the world have dragons. This is during different time periods and across various continents.

Now I know why Magikarp evolves into a serpent which at first, it doesn't make any sense.

I dunno if this has anything with the vid but we read a story (because of quarantine) about the “Four Dragons”, which where so selfless they gave up on their lives to become 4 of China’s biggest and most important rivers, I dunno, just liked the story

I was touring the Chinese Theatre in LA, and the tour guide told us about how the dude who built the theatre went to China in the 1920s or so and came back inspired, and he built the theatre. However, when she showed us this mural on the ceiling where the story was something like a hero slaying a dragon and rescuing the princess, I cringed really hard and was like "no man he totally misunderstood the role of dragons in Chinese culture".

Always did like Ryu/Tatsu/Eastern Dragons over Western Drakes. They're portrayed with such grace and awe you can't help but appreciate them.

Woah. The information is all over the place. They didn’t mention that Dragons originates in China, the reason as to why is still unknown. From China it traveled to Korea and then to Japan. The story of the carp getting to the top of the waterfall is of Japanese origin. The Chinese worshipped the the dragons to control rains on their crops, and to avoid floods, the rivers in China were prone to that. I expected much more from this video, sadly disappointed.

Life can be a real drag for a dragon?
Dragging a big tail and dragging the kids off to school..

You should've gone by the order how the culture was spread, Chinese > Vietnamese > Korean > Japanese. I may not be Vietnamese myself, but always find myself disappointed when content creators miss out or fail to mention the Vietnamese aspect when they're talking about Oriental culture (since Vietnam is also part of the Sinosphere/East Asian Cultural Sphere). That seems to always be the case though.

As much as I love mythical and legendary creatures I have no grudge at all with the Eastern dragons. Because I also enjoy these type of dragons that might be wield or claimed the title Dragon Emperor.
