There's a 2 player Romhack out there for Ducktales 2 for the NES that makes the 2nd player Darkwing Duck. Fantastic hack, was great to the play game co-OP, highly recommend

I highly recommend these NES romhacks that were not mentioned in this video:
-Batman & Robin: Shadows of Gotham - Shadow of the Ninja reskin 2 player co-op
-Battle of Olympus - Quality of Life patch
-Deadpool - total conversion of Ninja Gaiden
-Earthbound Beginnings - several patches to convert Mother 1 into a proper release
-Mega Man Remastered - Makes Mega Man play and look more like later Mega Man games
-New Ghostbusters II - a 2 player co-op patch and color fix for an actually good Ghostbusters game
-TMNT - Return to New York - rebalance of TMNT, makes you actually want to play all 4 turtles
-Zelda 2 easy mode - Various QoL patches, mainly Link starts at beginning of dungeon after death

And then there are the hundreds of great English translation patches of games that were never released in NA. This is a short list of my favorites:
-Adventure Island IV
-Bio Miracle Baby Upa
-Almost all Ganbare Goemon games
-Almost all of the Sanrio (Hello Kitty) games especially Keroppi's Splash Bomb
-Joy Mech Fight
-Konami Wai Wai World 1 and 2
-Hot Blooded Fighting Legend (Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu) - 4 player battling in Kunio-Kun series
-Downtown Special, Kunio-Kun's Historical Period Drama (essentially it's River City Ransom 2)

Thanks for the kind words! Also the "Mario Adventure" hack was what inspired me to do such in-depth technical hack of my own.

Some great picks here. I do think Super Pitfall 30th Anniversary Edition deserves a shoutout for basically being a complete remake of the original game, while still being on the same system. It's insane.

I wasn't expecting a Jackal 2 romhack. I particularly like the apparent nighttime setting with the land cast in a darker shade, only reverting back to the normal color to emphasize explosions. Sure it's just a simple color palette trick, but it's a great effect here and really sets the mood for the game.

Rockman 4 Minus Infinity is probably the best Nes rom hack I've seen so far, doing things I didn't think were possible. Such as using enemies, bosses and obstacles from Megaman 1-8, bosses with completely new attack patterns, and many more surprises.

Your Japanese is really getting so much better, your pronunciation is getting much more fluent.

Some romhacks really are masterpiece, I also love the "Easy editions", or even some other hack such as Deadpool - A ninja Gaiden Hack, The Terminator from Sunsoft (hack from Journey to Silius, and many more. I'll take a look to Castlevania hacked games you mentioned in your videos, they look quite nice, thanks a lot, I always enjoy your videos !

Please make more videos about romhacks, it's very interesting to watch.

Other good ones because I spent a ridiculous amount of time loading the NES Classic with these:

-Simultaneous 2-player Super Mario Bros.
-Power Peach Sis (SMB /w floating Peach/Daisy!)
-SMB3 Definitive Edition
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Return to New York
-Ultima: Exodus Remastered
-Goonies 2 Revised
-Metroid mOTHER
-The Superman hacks of Sunman
-RC Pro Am Mario Kart
-Ducktales 2 2-player
-POW 2-player
-Box Art Bomberman + 2-player
-Dragoon X Omega 1 & 2
-The improvement patches for unlicensed games like Pokemon Yellow, Aladdin, FF7, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (and I guess also the existence of these games in general?)
-Pac-Man CE Demake technically
-so many good ones for the Final Fantasies, from patches that allow you to run, to one that adds a dynamic combat system to FF1, to total rebalancing efforts
-many small patches that tweak movement/control to feel more natural (Castlevanias, Turrican, Double Dragon, Startropics, Batman, etc.)

The NES is rom hack central

Thanks for your analysis. I have played most of these. Like you said it's really hard to choose which ones to play with the number of hacks out there. That's why I really value these videos.

Thanks for just letting us enjoy the DuckTales soundtrack a little bit longer ❤️

Whoa, Metroid Rogue Dawn looks like a completely different fangame rather than a hack, especially on the NES. If you gave me that game I would've assumed it was a Super Metroid hack.
Plus the idea of a Space Pirate origin story is beyond cool.

Mario Adventure was the first romhack I got into, really fuelled the fire in my belly for romhacks!

Awesome video brother! I have been subbed for years and am a huge fan of hacks for retro games from my childhood; The metroid and FF ones sound especially cool to me I will be checking them out for sure.

It's funny, I have heard of and/or played through most popular romhacks for SNES, Genesis, and N64, but I really have never even heard of all the NES romhacks you mentioned and never really gave much thought to NES hacks in general. Thanks so much for bringing these to my attention!

Mario 3Mix is great. So is the Castlevania II Translation plus map. I made a patch, not released, that fixes the title screen for Castlevania II to restore the original copyright instead of leading to a website.

Good call on Minus Infinity. It's one of my favorite Mega Man games, period. Would also recommend Rockman (2) No Constancy, and the Rockman EX series by AYCNN which is surprisingly clever and challenging.

Great video as always! I’ve been so focused on SNES rom hacks that I’ve completely ignored the NES. This video is definitely going to change that.
