Damn, that overclocked Star Fox would genuinely make it a real challenging adrenaline rush.

I just watched this video after watching a different video game related one, but as a Japanese viewer I really appreciate the way you do your best to pronounce Japanese names and titles correctly.

The best thing about Secret of Mana patches is that they work on top of one another. You can have the much appreciated scrolling patch with the character width patch, and so on. You can make the ultimate version and play it on the SNES Mini, instead of the og rom that's built in.

There was no random slowdown in Gradius III, it was the entire game

I played the retranslated version of Breath of Fire II a year ago. The new translation makes a huge difference and makes the game much more enjoyable. Anyone who hasn't played it, I recommend you give it a shot.

After pulling a 12 hour nightshift while sick it's nice to watch a new Snes drunk video before bed.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for doing this! The links are so appreciated! I've been dying to play the Gradius III SA-1 patch, but was having trouble finding reliable info!

Improvement patches are awesome, so glad you made a video about them! I've been playing an improved Shin Megami Tensei patch for awhile now that reworked the names of spells, demons, and their races to that of the modern games. It even fixed major bugs like this one where you couldn't buy a gun at the very first shop near your house.

That Super Ghouls N Ghosts fix is a dream come true for me. I'm definitely going to have to check that out.

That Star Fox patch looks almost wrong with how smooth it is lol

I think you mentioned the Breath of Fire II patch before. I wanna thank you for that! I've played the game when it was released and was pretty annoyed by the translation (back then my english was solid at best). Last year I patched it due to your recommendation and played it on my SNES Mini. It's a really big improvement. So thanks for introducing me to the patch and thanks to the guy who did the new translation.

Wow, never knew this stuff existed! Seeing these old games run with these improvements is pretty mind blowing, thank you for sharing!

Maybe balance/difficulty patches are stretching yr definition of "improvement" but Chrono Trigger Level Zero is by far my favourite way to play CT. It's not a stupid grindy difficulty patch, it just disables levelling and rebalances the gameplay accordingly so that u only progress via equipment and techs. It mostly just makes the strategies that were already there more necessary. I'd definitely recommend it for anyone replaying Chrono Trigger but also maybe even for JRPG veterans playing it for the first time.

I know it's the internet and all, but watching something familiar while I'm away on business was real nice. Thanks.

Very good video idea and I'd like to see a sequel to this in the future! One of my favorite balance patches is one for Secret of Evermore. It works along with the 2 player patch and you might argue it makes too many changes but considering how unbalanced the game originally was, I welcome it. Some things are shared XP with certain alchemy formulas so that you have incentive to use the new spell you get rather than just using the old one forever since you invested so much time into leveling it. Just a lot more balanced in general.

Fantastic idea for a video! I love to find out about patches like these. That Gradius patch left me speechless for a moment!

Not exactly an improvement, but I love the Ancient Cave patch of FFV for those times when I don't want to replay the whole game, but still have some fun with its great job system in a shorter playthrough.

These kinds of videos are great! I love learning about fan efforts to improve old games, having been playing re-translated JRPGs for over a decade now.
