This is very interesting!!! Here in Peru we got a dish made with algae that data even before Inca civilization as it was traded by Incas to the whole Andes regions from the pacific coast of Peru. This algae is call cochayuyo as its collected from deep sea to be soak under the sun till u can roll or make like a layers before it get fully dry to finally be taken to the Andes or rural cities in the coast for cooking, it was considered "food of the poors" by western mind peruvians in the big cities as very discriminated because it was consume more by native indigenous peruvian people. My grandparents and parents are from the Andes regions and we live in an small city in the coast as still we get cochayuyo in our markets bit its decreasing compared to 20 years ago. So the recipe is soak one or two layers of cochayuyo algae in water, clean it and separate all to cut in little pieces, then put chopped garlic, red onion, red bell pepper or a paste of peruvian red chilli souce to fry a little bit with oil, then pour chopped potatoes, some water or broth, salt, pepper, when its boiling add the cochayuyo algaes and mix all together to get like a stew, add some oregano and ar last some fresh chopped cheese like mozzarella or fresh cheese and its done. Serve with rice on the side if u want.

Thx Dr Hashmi for this great video.
Supplementation with authentic omega3 is very expensive especially if you want to reach the dose of 4 grams often considered as actually effective. So if you don't have CKD or just stage 1 ckd maybe instead of being strict vegan you can eat small fresh sardines (not canned) prepared at home with olive oil and spices ( no more than 90-100 grams 2 or 3 times per week) in addition to omega 3 from plant sources (flaxseed, walnuts....).Doing so you'll not have to supplement with omega3 or vitamin B12.

I love your work, Dr. Hashmi. I share your videos (including your ICMN lecture on PBD for CKD) often. Here’s a suggested topic. It would be nice to have more info (ideally with a list of low- or lower-K plant foods for people with occasionally elevated serum potassium to follow) on a low/lower-potassium diet for kidney health. Thx for your very informative and easy-to-understand videos.

Am enjoying watching your videos, especially regarding kidney health. At then end you talk about overdosing on D as being very rare except in cases of kidney disease. So, is it bad to supplement D if you have kidney disease? Thanks in advance for your answer.

I've heard in the radio broadcast 6-mos ago while driving that a lady was able to reverse her kidney disease by taking higher dosage of Vitamin D.

I totally agree with the low vitamin D being related to acquiring and autoimmune disease. Having a pretty high vitamin d rate did not prevent my third autoimmune disease, but then I already had two of them...I am curious to know if you have noted any correlation between intensive care nurses and autoimmune disease? I ask because I worked in a medium sized hospital (for this area, not for a large city) and can quickly think of several other intensive care nurses who have various auto-immune diseases and these are various autoimmune diseases. Most of us have at least two of the autoimmune diseases.

Awesome work and topic, Sean! Wondering if you have any thoughts as to suggested doses of both supplements, and/or ideal serum level of 25(OH)D? Also what are your thoughts about testing one’s level of DHA/EPA (typically at a private lab)? Seems there are conflicting and/or inadequate data and controversy around all of these questions. Thank you for all the outstanding and tireless work you do! 🙏🏼🙌🏼
