McDonald’s comeback business strategy had several elements but probably the most important was its limited one time offer strategy. In the early days of McDonald’s comeback, they focused on special menu items to compete against fast casual rivals in addition to all day breakfast which was a hit with customers. However, McDonald’s comeback really took off when it went back to basics and had the confidence to rely on its core McDonald’s burgers such as the Quarter Pounder with Cheese and the Big Mac. Limited time offer promotions with fashionable celebrities helped to reintroduce McDonald’s to demographic customer segments that outgrew the Golden Arches after childhood. McDonald’s new value menu and dollar menus also helped to lure back value conscious customers.
