How to repair common problems in Volvo and other ABS modules. This is the same style repair you need to fis the xbox red rings issues, as well as most electrical problems that do no involve a burned out chip.

To open the module, use a heat gun to soften the factory sealent. Move the heat gun around the circumference at the seam. Once it gets hot, gently pry the lid off. Takes a bit of time, but once done it is easy to reseal the unit with rtv. Don't take a dremel to it, lol.

Interesting... I have narrowed my 1999 Durango's ABS issue, down to the ABS module. I've have to open it up and check the connections now before finally letting a Dealer touch it.

NICE! That's Out F#$?ing Standing. Thanks for the tip. NAPA wants $629 for a "re-manufactured" module. It's a printed circuit board, thus it cannot be re-manufactured.

possible on older models, on the new hybrid / very small ecus they´re coverd / burried in silicone or other stuff, no easy access here

Do the later model 2004 up have the same issue, coz i have a problem with my ABS module, and as i search to the internet i cant find any forum for the repair of the later model

Just heating or adding to old solder is not a good technique, as the flux will not flow well. Old solder needs to be removed, ideally using rework flux and desoldering copper wick.

I already put it back in. Opened it with a dremel. Now that I think about it, I could have used a table saw with a VERY CAREFULLY aligned blade.

You should use a freeze spray on the component before soldering to avoid heat damage. In addition, you should use your soldering iron from the underside, as was done in the electronics factory, and feed the new solder from the top. Putting electronics flux (not plumbing solder flux) will ensure a clean and effective soldered connection.
