IVF - Why do some people get more eggs?

If you go online in an IVF chat group, you may notice that some people get more eggs than others at the time of their egg retrieval. Why does this happen? IVF expert Dr. Randy Morris M.D. explains on today's episode of InfertilityTV

I had an IVF cycle last fall at age 35 with a high FSH and had 15 retrieved, all mature, 14 fertilized, 12 made it to blastocyst, and 5 were euploid. Pregnant on my first FET. I am quite literally naming my child after my RE!

I had 18 eggs retrieved in 2020. 17 were mature enough to freeze. I was freshly 35 years of age at the time. Yesterday they were thawed for fertilization. Only 5 survived the thaw and were fertilized today. Any idea why I lost so many????

I have PCOS, baseline testing showed 30 eggs, but once the medication started and we did retrieval I only had 16 retrieved. I think they kept my doses low because the initial 30 they saw on the previous cycle they said I’m at risk for ohss. my AMH is 8.69. I was just disappointed with 16 because the attrition is depressing.

Dear doctor. I am looking for some advice on the internet but not having much luck and thought what better place to ask. I am currently 16 weeks pregnant after 3 very early miscarriages in the last couple of years. This is the first pregnancy through IVF and I was on Fragmin since the embryo transfer day. All seems to be going well so far. Today I was told I can now stop Fragmin. As much as it would he great to stop injections, I am very very nervous about just stopping it. Can I just add that I did not have a diagnosed problem with blood clotting Fragmin was given to me just in case, in addition to low dose aspirin. Is it really safe to stop it now and not worry sick?

what do you suggest to patients with normal ovarian reserve which have LH and FSH gene mutations and dont react properly to mediation (lower number of follicles than expected and low number of MII eggs)? thank you

If u produce more eggs per month, ur eggs will finish in the early age, then the period will end at the same time .
