A truly sovereign God allows for his creation to have a will and make their own choices without having them to be meticulously determined and decreed by God.

Totally agree Leighton. I think that also raises the culpability of those who teach false doctrine because they play a part in influencing the agent to want the wrong things ( a misrepresented picture of who God is (sugar Daddy etc.)). That being said, the agent is still the one being held accountable for their actions.

Compatiblism is basically inconsistent determinism...

I've listened to several of your videos and agree with you but my question is.... How much false teaching is required for someone to be considered a false teacher? Should we declare Calvinistic preachers as false teachers?

The Bible does teach both. It teaches both determinism and compatibilism.

1 Kings 22:21-23
The LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab to go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one said this while another said that. 21“Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD and said, ‘I will entice him.’ 22“The LORD said to him, ‘How?’ And he said, ‘I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ Then He said, ‘You are to entice him and also prevail. Go and do so.’ 23“Now therefore, behold, the LORD has put a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; and the LORD has proclaimed disaster against you

Exact problem I have with the whole notion of being responsible for the things you want to do. Who caused you to want the thing that you want? Now if you say that it is ultimately man, than I would agree, and say that man is responsible for those things. But if it is God who causes you to want the things you want. Then it is really no different than putting a gun to your head, because in the end you cannot be responsible for your actions in either situation.

@Soteriology101 what is it called when a person believes that a person cannot come to God unless he is drawn, whether God softens his heart to believe or however He does so. Then a person as a result repents and believes, through prayer through God working in the persons life. Oh and of Course a person knows the basic idea of the Gospel.
I am Not saying, let me repeat, I am Not Saying being regenerated or born again before looking onto Jesus for salvation as some do.
Thank you Dr. Flowers

I like Dr Flowers work regarding Soteriology, but how do we explain freewill in the providence of God? Like it seems like so many decisions are made for things to fall in place perfectly, how does God orchestrate His providence in a free will system?

If God preordains/determines ahead of time everything that will happen how can humans even have Free Will based on their nature? It doesn't make logical sense to me. If their human nature (that God created them with) will only allow them to rebel against God how can they possibly be expected to do otherwise??

A good video but I think it falls short of the nuances of compatibilism leading me to conclude you don’t understand what your opposition is saying. Compatibilism isn’t a system designed to answer questions of culpability, it’s designed to explore the relationship between God’s foreknowledge or decree and human action. If you truly want to debunk an idea, demonstrate how it’s inconsistent within your opposition’s own worldview. Everyone already understands it’s inconsistent with your own.

Can any Calvinist explain how Acts 3 :19
"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord."
Fits into Calvinist theology?

Not even free...

For them just to make sense!!! It has to be free.

Why would God make us a new creation when we accept His free gift, and have a new heart hating sin, evil, and injustice?. While He causes the majority of man to sin, to do evil, and to commit injustices. If the Calvinistic viewpoint was correct.

I think we should be more worried about the unsaved right now and how our culture is becoming more hopeless. The church needed to unite now more than ever. Stop critiquing each other and unit as one church under Christ.

Are you seriously saying our desires or instincts are out of God's design for us? That God didn't see this when He made Adam? That this is all happy accident. Who made our nature? God did, did man corrupted it, according to Ecclesiastes 7:29, yeah, we did.

How do the Calvinists balance their belief that God makes man sin with James1:13-15 or Ps.92:15?

If libertarian free will existed it should be possible to live a sinless life and that is not possible. If determinism was true we wouldn’t be responsible for sins. What’s left is compatibilism.

We have the ability to choose any desire? Where is that in scripture??
John 14:15 “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments." Notice "you WILL keep my commandments". NOT maybe or perhaps.
Matt 7:17-18 "So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit."
According to libertarian free will, our choices are not determined by our desires so it would mean that we have no reason, motive or intentions behind our choices.
To assume we can choose otherwise or contrary to what can be chosen is to assume an undetermined or indifferent will. That would make all decisions random accidents. Hence we would have no control over our own decisions. Undetermined means uncontrolled by definition.
Flowers keeps complaining about Calvinism not being able to explain human culpability not admitting that he too has the same dilemma. Why would God demand righteous perfection from us according to His law when we are obviously not able to live sinless lives? Every Christian has the same dilemma and it isn't unique to Calvinism.

It seems a misrepresentation of the doctrine of compatiblism. Man's free will is self determination or self rule. He do things out of his heart's desires.
