Today we’re going to talk about an overlooked cause of coronary artery calcification: lactic acidosis. Lactic acidosis occurs as a byproduct of glucose metabolism.

Both lactic acidosis and lactate in the blood are associated with various health issues, including:
• Heart attacks
• Thrombosis
• Panic attacks
• Autonomic nervous system dysfunction
• Bipolar disorder
• Schizophrenia
• Sepsis
• Arrhythmia problems
• Liver disease
• Diabetes
• Cancer
• Restless leg syndrome

Calcification in the arteries is not just caused by old age, consuming too much calcium, or even a vitamin K2 deficiency.

It turns out that one cause of vascular calcification is hypoxia in the arteries. Hypoxia is a lack of oxygen, and this lack of oxygen in the arteries can be caused by lactic acidosis.

I've needed 2 kidney transplants, got diabetes from the steroids and the Tacro, recently had cancer and went through full radiation treatment and some chemo, got good results. But I noticed from the second transplant my diabetes has been a lot harder to control . I wake myself at 4am everyday to take insulin and check my blood pressure. I tried fasting over 24 hours just a few days ago and ended up in the emergency room. It wasn't the sugar either. I'm still feeling the side effects from fasting . I know I'm in a fight for my life and I'm going to fight. No one ever tells you about the emotional consequences you'll go through fighting serious health problems. I'm going to fight as best as I can . Whether you are healthy or going through medical problems, Just do the best you can in listening to your body and listening to medical professionals, well wishes 👍

Wow, I’m really impressed that you have a farm! Growing up on a dairy farm in MI, our cows grazed on grass in the summer and in the winter they ate hay and silage (chopped corn stocks) which fermented a few weeks after harvest. Probably was the best thing for their gut!! We ate lots of beef, raw milk, butter, cheese and food from the garden. Today I’m 74 and very healthy, my husband was raised in town ate at restaurants a lot . I’ve always preferred to do my own cooking and our girls are now 50 and so far healthy. You are what you eat!!!

You amaze me as always. As I was typing in a comment, you answered it in your video. My father in law is long term Warfarin user. All bypass arteries, and natural arteries calcified. Just barely hanging on. I've been researching this condition and you are only Dr I've found to actually tie the calcification and Warfarin. Thank you so much for all the lives you save.

Have been following the keto diet for about four months. Figured out I was malnourished from celiac at age 32 and was severely malnourished and addicted to sugar. Has completely changed my life. Thank you Dr. Berg for the useful info, I was never taken seriously by any doctor.

Bless you Dr. Berg. I used to drink my sugar. After a high CAC score in 2019 I started Keto and Fasting with your direction I had Stage 3 CKD and have since reversed it to normal. But, my blood pressure is still high, though my Insulin Resistance is <1. I had lactic acidosis and rhabomyelosus in the past . They're checking for a metabolic myopathy. I listen intently to all that you have to say and I'm sure your adding years to my life.

I am a 58 year old male and found this video very interesting. I recently found out my CAC score was 766. I never had any cardiac symptoms, this was discovered because I requested routine cardiac tests. I had a follow up Angio CT and luckily, there are not significant blockages, which is probably because I am relatively young and I never smoked or drank. I am overweight but working on that. I have a long history of panic disorder and I have position dependent, labile hypertension and a little autonomic dysreflexia. My cardiologist wanted to start me on Zetia but I asked him to hold off. I have substantially changed my diet and exercise routine and added K2 and IP6 to my supplements. I also upped my D3 to 5000IU a day and still take Omega 3 and several other supplements and vitamins. I want to see what I can accomplish without prescription meds. I can't take statins nor do I want to take them. I would also prefer Repatha to Zetia but I know that might be a problem for insurance. Ideally, I would like to not have to take anything. I hope I can make inroads without new prescription meds.

I had lactic acidosis one time so bad that when I put baking soda on my sweat, it fizzled like my sweat was vinegar.

What an abundance of information!! It pertains to me in many ways, but also my 40 year old daughter. I just had a quick visit with her after several years (she lives in another state), and I'm so sad that she looks depleted and unhealthy (for many reasons outlined here). I'm coming along slow but sure. I've converted from chemical vitamins to organic(Nature Made) & it's made a big difference. I've had a big problem with itching skin; I've had to spray my body with witch hazel at night to sleep but with a flood of all of the organic vitamins I've found, my skin is calm now. Also getting foods with K2 in them. Your videos are most detailed but with an easily distracted mind( it's getting better) it's hard to understand the full extent of your explanations. Pausing for word emphasis is great! If you could not abbreviate more, it would be most helpful because after you do that, I'm blank for a while; everything stops. Your presentations are empathetic to learning the real lesson. Once the vitamins start working in me I'll absorb much more. Just what I needed & continue to need. Great Job! Ernie Metzner.

I started taking B1, no joke the first night I stopped snoring, no longer am I like an old steam train, now it’s a Japanese bullet train, purr and silent. I’m so much calmer, I can actually “ read”. Before this was nigh on impossible.

I switched from a very unhealthy carb diet to a dirty starvation keto diet and literally collapsed. I developed weird breathing issues, nervousness, POTS, digestive problems and even central sleep apnea without knowing whats going on. Only my lactate levels were always high for no reason. After 3 years of suffering I found out that high doses of B1 (Thiamine) helped instantly with the symptoms. I had a subclinical B1 defficiency due to my prior diets.

7:16 what you mention here about too much grains, cows are not supposed to be eating grains, it is one reason why inflammation exists, as our body’s aren’t meant to digest it either. Also, one thing to add is that you mentioned stress reduction that reduces lactic buildup. Cows now a days are extremely stressed hence why they pump them full of antibiotics and other items to get them as plump as they would naturally be if they were naturally grass fed. Something to look into I would think.
