Some nice work there, big money savings. About to do this myself in COLD Canada. Pressure wash HARD, then Aquaphalt in the bigger cracks, then pound it in, water it, pound it more. Tiger torch to dry up excess water, wait a couple warm days, blowtorch again, then the tar filler. Youre absolutely right about snow machines tearing up the sealer in winter, I use a grader blade in reverse and a tractor bucket with plastic "skis" on the edges so the front lip cant gouge the asphalt. Same thing on the snowblower, I replaced the steel skids with hard nylon skis, best thing ever. Snowblower glides so easy, doesnt dig in. Yes, it leaves a thin thin bit of snow, but the driveway is way more expensive than dealing with a 1/8 inch of leftover snow.
Stay gold.

Not a bad job at all. Something I use in my business is a blowtorch. If you go over the "bumpy or rough" areas with this torch it will melt it all flat and helps the material go into the cracks. Good Job!

Great information, just what I was looking for. I have the mindset that I can do anything. I have a turkey fryer with a, must be 20-gallon pot with lid got it from a tenant that skipped out on their rent. Looks like you spent a lot of time melting the material, because that's the tools you had. After watching I will use the same method, just use sand in layers with material to fill deep cracks. Great video, thank you Lee

Decent job. I use an old electric kitchen kettle (presto brand fry pot) to heat mine, works good. I cut up the block with a homemade hot wire hooked to a 12v battery. I usually spring for a $13 squeegee, that I bend to a U shape for flattening after the pour. I use a metal ladle for smaller cracks and pour from the pot on bigger ones. I add a little sand to the hot mix, makes for a better finish and extends coverage. Sand is also useful for setting your tools in (squeegee, stir sticks etc.) between pours.

Did you ever consider prefilling the deeper-wider cracks with brushed sand to fill most of the voids, to just sub-level, as a cheap filler?

Exactly what I was looking for, I appreciate all the information you provided in the video, well done. Your repair is probably about a year old by now, how is it holding up and what are your thoughts? Additionally, you mentioned painting the driveway. What do you plan on using and how did you research it? Please share your thoughts on why you chose that method.

Nice idea! Looks great. How has it held up?

The rubber needs to be heated to 350-380 degrees F so I’m going to use an old oven to heat multiple metal pans full of the rubber, and save myself the cost of propane. Except to burn grass out of the cracks, got a flamethrower at harbor freight for $25 😊

How does the torch come into play if the propane is used to power the burner for the pot? Also, how many BTUs is that propane burner?

Where did you purchase the burner? Approximate cost?

how long does this last before the crack re-opens

This should last you a long time. What you are using is not really rubber, it is Bitumen (the black tar blcoks that roofers use). Renting a crack filler machine would have cost a few bucks more, but would have been faster and much easier.

Hi, I own an asphalt maintenance company that provides direct-fire rubber crack fill. With my machine I would have been done in 50 minutes or less and charged you around $200 USD for 150ft

Why didn't you just use asphalt tape?
