In this video, we’re going to talk about why you might wake up with a racing heart.

Having a fast heart rate (over 100 beats per minute) is called tachycardia.

We first need to differentiate between the feeling of a fast heart rate and the feeling of heart palpitations. They can feel very similar at times. However, you can measure your heart rate by feeling your pulse to check for your precise heart rate.

Heart palpitations may feel like your heart is temporarily speeding up or slowing down—or they can feel like your heart is flipping and flopping.

The following are potential causes of tachycardia:
1. Alcohol
2. Sugar
3. Low potassium
4. Low magnesium
5. Low vitamin B1
6. Stimulants, such as caffeine
8. Anemia
9. Dysautonomia - stress
10. Excessive exercise
11. Too acidic
12. High or low blood sugar

The best remedies to help promote a healthy heart rate are:
• Breathing exercises
• Celery
• Avoid carbohydrates and sugar
• Long walks
• Avoid EMFs

If you’re not already on keto and intermittent fasting, check out some of my other videos. The Healthy Keto diet is a great way to support your health naturally and remove many of the potential triggers of a fast heart rate. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you.

I literally wish, I could somehow replicate millions of Dr. Berg and place him in every hospital and every primary doctor's office!

I forgot two: (1) hot flashes, which I will put a link in the description and (2) gallbladder issues - so when you eat, especially too much fat you're heart might race unless you take bile salts or gallbladder support - will put this video in the description too.

Strangely, I have this problem on Keto. I wake up in night with racing heart, and have to lay there 10 or 15 minutes to relax heart rate. If I eat normal carbs, I dont have the problem. I stay on keto for the health benefits, but live with the racing heart every night

Dr. Berg you are my doctor far away. I listen to you when I feel sick instead of running to the ER and sitting there for 4 hours to be seen, then rushed out with no prescription

This issue is exactly why I went to the doctor this morning O.O
Is it just me or has this been highly requested recently?

Stress and anxiety trigger the release of stress hormones, which in turn increase your heart rate and blood pressure. The more anxious you feel, the more pronounced your symptoms can be. 👍

I woke up with my heart racing and I had no idea why. Now I think it was because of the green tea and fruit snacks I had. Thank you for the lesson, it was helpful.

So interesting you created this video... In Oct I woke up in the middle of the night with over 100 bpm. I called the paramedics, and ended up hospitalized for a couple days. They chalked it up to severe dehydration. Not sure they were incorrect, but I was hooing to get more specifics uoon discharge. One thing specific on my discharge papers was to avoid potassium, which I thought wierd. Didn't explain why. I wish that there was morw consultation as opposed to paperwork and questions. Never saw the diagnosing doc, which Inalsonthought was interesting, too.
Thanks fornlaying this all out- sad that I turn to YouTube for answers, as opposed to the folks that looked at my bloodwork, etc., First hand.

I’ve always said those phones near you can be a problem in how the heart beats.

I struggle with tachycardia, and I can tell you the triggers and how I treat it.

Triggers/causes: Too much caffeine
Too much alcohol
Severe stress
The Covid vaccine
For me laying totally flat on a comfy mattress and to think of really relaxing things is the only thing that helps.

This would happen to me when I was pregnant. The only thing they told me was that my hormones where acting up. 😑 I'm going to come to YouTube for my healthcare needs. Thank you Dr.Breg for explaining everything.

I must admit, I enjoy wine with my dinner…. But I’ve been noticing heart palpitations in the middle of the night. Not fun.
