DR. JOHN MATTHIAS is a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist with 30 years’ experience in both clinical and forensic work. Shocking that this little boy asked for police and not his dad...he knew that there was no safety there and his only hope was police. He knew his mother was abusing them and worse and he knew he had to do something to stop her. He must be so conflicted that he had to "out" his mom who was both his mommy whom he loved and his abuser. He never mentions his dad while the neighbour talks to him.

After reading Ruby’s journal, as heartbreaking as it was, what struck me was the children fought back as best they could continually and that gives me hope for them. I hope they are all in good, supportive homes and that they are getting needs met.
