Septal Perforation Repair

Uncommonly, a patient may have a condition known as a septal perforation which essentially is a hole in the nasal septum. Normally, an intact nasal septum is a flat, straight, hole-less wall inside the nose approximately 3 X 1.5 inch, that divides the right side of the nasal cavity from the left side. The nasal septum is composed of cartilage in the front and bone in the back of the nose. Ideally, this nasal septum should be straight to allow symmetric airflow into both sides of the nose. If the nasal septum is crooked, it would be called a deviated septum which may lead to nasal obstruction and other symptoms.

Generally speaking, a septal perforation causes minimal if any symptoms. However, if symptoms are present, patients typically complain of: recurent nosebleeds, excessive nasal crusting, and whistling when breathing in/out of the nose.

My hole is quite large. The options given to me he views unsuccessful. This brings hope. I complained for 2 years before my GP sent me to an ENT Dr.

getting mine checked out very soon, but this was informative, and the horror music at the beginning made me laugh. What are some common causes of this, other than drugs or picking at it? (I'm just curious because idk where mine came from and it was definitely not drugs, unless smoking counts)

Hi Doctor. Three months ago I had anterior septal perforation closure with bilateral nasal floor mucosal mobilization. The problem is that now I feel a stiffness in the entire nasal base, as if it were a stone. I suspect scar fibrosis, but I'm not sure. Could you clear this doubt? The doctor who operated on me does not answer about it

Hello doctor, I had septum perforation surgery 5 months ago. The 2 cm hole was closed, but I feel very dry and crusty, my nose does not get moist at all, it feels like my nose base has become petrified, it has been 5 months, shouldn't it have been fixed by now? Is there a risk of permanent dryness?
