How to prevent studio one from crashing? Crashes Happen a lot in Studio One. Studio One is highly unstable and Presonus refuses something to to about.
I have 2 tips for you in this video:
The AU (Apple Audio Unit) support is bad and second the support of sound cards and audio interfaces is bad.

Thanks for the video! I'm a developer too. What a bummer. I agree with you to a point that software shouldn't rely on outside plugins holding up their end of the game. But that only works in a perfect world. Sometimes these things are complicated though. But the real pain for me is that because Presonus won't actually take responsibility for things, it makes me not trust them. That's a BIG problem for me. I actually find their response time pretty good, but like with you they blamed my external drive. I only really have the problem with one song and never did with V3. They really need better error handling, and there I totally agree with you.

Yes The AU version of the plugin I was using was what was causing my project to crash. Swapped it out with the VST version and it's all working on repeat as I type this. You're a life saver!

wow great video! I have been a S1 user since 2010 and honestly haven't found a single version less reliable than v4. The AU support is horrendous and its a shame that Persons refuses to acknowledge this obvious issue with S4 - as soon as I disabled AU like you mentioned my session stopped crashing - it was so obviously the DAW issue and not plugin related.

Absolutely agree. It's not the plugins fault. It's presonus fault. FL Studio almost never crashed, but studio one crashes all the time.

100% agree with you, i learned on studio one, so i feel kinda dissapointed, i'm gonna need to learn how to use a new software because right now it's still shit, i thought they would fix things, but no
it is great in many ways but the stability is just trash :'(

I cannot find audio unit support. ARA/VST plug in support. Followed by ASIO driver support. Right to CD burning support

Still on Studio One Pro 2.6.5 running on Windows 10 and never had an issue with it crashing, everything works well, if it ain't broke don't fix is the old saying as I hesitate to upgrade because of the crashing issue I've been hearing about in the later versions..it seems like the more they add different features to what was once a simple DAW, the more seems to go wrong. I really liked the simplicity about the earlier versions.

Sir, you are a SAINT! I've been struggling with this DAW crashing on me 50% of the time during it's bootup. After taking your advice and disabling the VST plugin support, it now boots up in record time. YATTA!!! You're the man!!! Thank you so much!!!

I love Studio One and feel like I'm getting comfortable with it but it's pissing me off with how it interacts with EZDrummer2. It freezes up all of the time but not with any other plug in.

I often get crashes with opening their native Presonus plugins (not only 3rd-party's). Like the Room Reverb...happened twice this week. But the crashes happen when my CPU load is high. Still I am kinda pissed.

It crashes whenever I launch Ezkeys and another vst smh. Straight trash and I really like studio one. Those vsts don’t even crash in FL studio so I think it’s presonus fault most definitely.

Here's an issue I had. I have Studio One 2, with AudioBox 44VSL, running on Windows 10. I made five tracks using the Impact and SampleOne plug-ins and a M-Audio keyboard. Recorded 2 minutes of audio. Started a playback the next day, and Studio One would always crash around the 25 second mark. Changing buffering wouldn't help. Finally, I decided to export every track, as I assumed having all the keyboard plug-ins could be an issue, and planned to import them back as audio tracks. That's when I find one track still stops at the 25 second mark. I moved the samples to a new sample track, removed the old one, then the track started playing fine, other than I had to fix a couple notes that were off-sync. A strange issue, and I'm not sure if it'll happen again. But checking for a corrupted individual audio track during a playback freeze isn't a bad idea.

Please help me! This problem has been happening recently. I simple cannot open Studio one 5. It does start, however, when it does all the scanning, it crashes... The only way to close the program is to go on task manager and end task. It's so frustrating! Please help.

Who’s watching this in 2023 😂 I just downloaded the software today coming from cubase and I can’t believe the amount of crashes I’ve had 😬 cubase never crashed once in all the time I used it but I’m drawn towards the fast producing capabilities studio one provides. It’s like a happy medium for me between ableton and Cubase

I am still using v3.5 and was honestly starting to think that they were using the network to install bugs in an effort to make me upgrade because the program was often using quite a lot of internet bandwidth! I know that is probably not the case but it makes me wonder and today I used windows firewall to block it's access to the internet lol.
It is really starting to bug me, I have been using S1 since the first generation and it actually seems to be getting worse. A few years ago I was promoting S1 to friends and usually stating its stability was one of the best features. I recently purchased a new gaming laptop with an i7-8759H, 16GB ram, 2x SSDs and the Nvidia 1060 graphics (more than adequate for sound production), however, as soon as I get to 15+ tracks with multiple effects chains on 5+ tracks (not crazy amounts) it just glitches every few minutes and freezes about once per hour on average. I have monitored the resource management (CPU, memory, disks and gpu etc.) but the hardware in my computer doesn't seem to be problem because it is only ever using 25-50% cpu (max) and maybe up to 12Gb ram on occasions). I really like all the other aspects of S1 and other Presonus hardware, so I really hope they invest the time and resources to fix the stability.
