What should you do with your groceries if you lose power in a storm? Inside Edition spoke with chef Franklin Becker, a food safety expert, to get some tips. First order of business is keeping things cold. Don’t open the fridge longer than necessary, and put any ice packs or dry ice you might have in the fridge. Eat beef first, as it will go bad the quickest. You can also fill your washing machine with ice to create a cooler, and the water will drain out as it melts.

only reason we throw food out is if it smells weird than what its normally supposed to smell like, or mold

it depends on how long the power outage lasts

This is what people had to do in the old days before refrigerators. It’s been done before, and it certainly can be done again.

We have two days power outage and we open it up 10 times. And my ice still rock solid when power come back on. So yeah, don't open your fridge often.

Yall act like every person is a millionaire superhero who can go out and buy ice, have 20 generators, and technology that costs tons of money. Like maybe the 20 percenters can do that but the common man it isnt worth getting sick
