Thanks for some reason my password on my today year old phone wasn't working ! This helped, but I did it without it being hooked up to anything. Why is it needed ?

I can get it turn off with the first step, but second step fails and just reboots the phone with a "PDP backup fail setup-wizard [FINISH]" instruction on the homescreen again. No matter what I do I can't get the recovery mode to pop. Note I've tried connected to my pc and my laptop.
