Forward Lunges - Incorrect vs correct way to perform the exercise

With forward lunges, when stepping forward, trying to make sure your leading leg is at 90 degrees when in lunge formation. I often see people drive their leading knee forward, many times past their toes. This is incorrect! Same with walking lunges. Do not add weight or perform walking lunges until you can perform this move correctly.

Maybe explaining the difference would help. Are you trying to indicate slow down?

The first lunges were actually better, they were only performed too fast and with little control.
