Did You Know This About The Death Eaters In HARRY POTTER…

The Death Eaters were originally named The Knights of Walpurgis! This name seems to be a play on Walpurgis Night, the evening of 30th April when, as legend has it, witches and demons gather. It’s possible that Salazar Slytherin, after leaving Hogwarts, rounded up other witches and wizards who shared his ideals and banded them together to form the Knights of Walpurgis. It’s also likely that they followed Grindelwald, and then they followed Voldemort. Whatever their name may be, they will always exist, and they will always find a powerful leader who shares their Pureblood political ideology.

This channel is inspired by Harry Potter Theory. I grew up loving Harry Potter and always wanted to come up with my own theories and ideas about the lore and world-building of the series. I hope you enjoy this theory video, and subscribe if you want to see more!

Whatever name it is,
The idea of giving a special name to Voldemort's followers was great

More specifically, "Walpurgisnacht" is a legend and holiday from Dutch and German folklore. Witches would meet with the devil on the Brocken, the highest mountain of the "Mittelgebirge" (Central Germany's low mountain range) to maintain their immortality.

It's still a holiday in both Catholicism and the Lutheran church, but in Germany it isn't really an official celebrated day or season anymore. I don't know how important it still is in the Netherlands.

They sound like minions trying to find a evil boss

So weird, I grew up in Mexico and there was a believe that the doors of hell would open on April 30th a day known for the day of the devil…probably an old tell to scary children but what a big coincidence.

That makes sense since according to the Western Zodiac October is the opposite of April. They actually complement each other; notice how October 31 is Halloween in which the traditions and customs are very similar as well as folklore

The way he worded the last part makes it sound like the Death Eaters/Knights of Walpurgis are the Minions but not cute and much more evil.

I don't think Grindlewald cared about blood status. He considered wizards above muggles and wanted it that way.

Tax day is also towards the end of April. A coincidence I'm sure

They'll always follow some clown they can throw under the broom and blame for their own misdeeds.

So… they’re the equivalent of the minions in the wizarding world ? 🤨

Actual the knights of Walpurgis was a play on the original knights of Walpurgis who slayed witches and wizards for the sake of purity Tom Riddle chose this name in school for that exact reason for the irony of his reversed intentions

In spanish they're called "Mortífago" which means that they feed on death so yeah death eaters but way cooler

For me, it makes sense that Voldemort’s followers initially called themselves the Knights of Walpurgus, then Dumbledore and his allies slandered them as “Death Eaters, ” and then Voldemort embraced that name to strike fear when it became clear he couldn’t just win the majority of wizards over.

Why didn't voldemort ask death eaters for blood in four book movie?

Well...Grindewald has nothing agains't half-bloods or "muggle-borns", his fight was against muggles... But that's a nice piece of information, thanks.

If that was a thing that would mean demons exist in the harry potter universe
